2016 Ministry Prayer Requests

We are Landing in Kenya March 16th.
This is a list of our prayer requests for our ministry

1) Leah will continue the Friday Ladies Bible Study. Please pray for God to give her a clear path as to which stories to tell in order to disciple the ladies and help them grow stronger in their faith.

2) Alan will be seeking out men to begin a Men's Bible Study. Please pray for the men to make a commitment to coming to the Bible Studies to be discipled and grow in their faith.

3) We will be seeking out nearby villages to evangelize and spread the gospel. Please ask God to show us which village to go to and by what means we should get there.

4) We have many humanitarian projects that we want to start and we can't start them all at one time. Please ask God to give us wisdom as to what projects to start first.

5) Our last term in Kenya was particularly difficult because Alan was plagued with multiple illnesses. Please pray for our health. That our bodies will remain healthy and strong so that we may carry out the tasks God has laid out before us.

6) Lastly and most importantly please pray according to this scripture in Ephesians 6:19-20 " 'and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."

Thank you for your prayers

Heading to the USA

First of all, Praise God that we are going to be back with our children for Christmas and have the chance to update all of our prayer partners about what God has been doing.

Since our time is limited we will not just be speaking at churches but also planning "Missions Parties" A Missions Party is a lot like a Tupperware Party except that you aren't there to hear about Tupperware, you are there to hear about Missions and particularly what God is doing in Kenya.

Our time is short, so if you want to host a Missions Party let us know NOW.
We are working out our calendar right now and you can get on there while there are still dates available.

We are will be in
West Virginia
North Carolina,
South Carolina,
Georgia,
Alabama,
Mississippi,
Louisiana,

Back in Kenya

First of all, Praise God that we are back in Kenya.

We have a lot to do before we can move up to Isiolo.

  1. Pray that we are able to complete the application for renewal of our work permit.
  2. Pray for us as we work with EVC to teach one of their members how to keep their website updated.
  3. Pray for us as we explain the vision that God has given us for our work in Isiolo, that we will be open to the guidance and opinions of Pastor Woche and how best to proceed with starting the project "Bringing the Desert Back to Life"  ( http://www.nomads4jesus.com/projects.html )
  4. Pray for us to remain strong spiritually as we battle with satan and his desire to keep us from completing the tasks that God has set before us.
  5. Pray for us to keep our eyes open to where God is working and stop and do the things that He is commanding us to do.
  6. Praise God for allowing us to be able to help a family with a sick child.
Thank you for your prayers. Your prayers release God's power into our lives.

Another Step

Another step closer!

1) Praise the Lord we have partnered with World Outreach Ministries. WOM has been helping missionaries fulfill their call for 34 years. They are serving over 200 missionaries in this capacity. We fell blessed to be partnering with them and are excited to see what God holds for us.

2) Please pray for us as we determine the exact date we should return to Kenya. The Kenya Presidential Elections are March 4th.  The last presidential election ended in a war that killed over 800 people and displaced over 600,000 people.  We have been advised by our mentors and veteran missionaries in Kenya to wait until after the elections to book our tickets. And we feel that this is the wise course of action.

3) Please continue to pray for our spiritual preparation for our return to Kenya. It is important that we are spiritually prepared for the battle that we will surely face when we arrive. Satan does not want us to be there and he will oppose us.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers. They release God's power to work miracles in our lives and we appreciate them.

The Final Steps

It seems as though we are finally accomplishing the final steps towards our return to Kenya.

1) Praise the Lord we received Ross' US Passport.

2) Praise the Lord we have an appointment with a mission agency that has agreed to do our covering for our non-profit status.

3) Please pray as we meet with this agency, that God will direct us and tell us if we should partner with them.

4) Please pray for us as we determine the exact date we should return to Kenya. The Kenya Presidential Elections are March 4th.  The last presidential election ended in a war that killed over 800 people and displaced over 600,000 people.  We have been advised by our mentors and veteran missionaries in Kenya to wait until after the elections to book our tickets. Exciting Year Ahead

We are excited about returning to Kenya,
but we have a lot that still needs to be done.

We need prayer for our non-profit covering.  We are using an organization in California and the head of that organization is closing down his ministry.  We know that God has something lined up for us so that we can return to Kenya, but we need prayer for that to materialize very soon.  The California ministry is committed to keeping things running until we get something else worked out. We are very grateful for that.  But we would also like to honor his desire to close his ministry.  So we are looking for a church or another non-profit ministry that will take us under their wing.  If you have more questions, please write to us. alanandleahfleming@gmail.com

We have many other preparations to get ready to return.
Pray for strength, endurance and wisdom.

Thank you and we look forward to another year of ministry with you.

Final Preparations

We are trying to move into getting ready to go back to Kenya mode.

We still have many financial and spiritual goals that must be met before our return.

Our target date is March. Pray for God's timing for the finances to come in.
Pray for God's timing for the scheduling of Volunteer mission trips and that we will get back
in time to get ready for them.  Our first group is coming in May.

Thank you for praying for us, may the Lord bless you and keep you.

We believe that God wants us to return to Kenya with a
strong prayer base and a strong financial support base.

We need the prayer base so that we can remain strong in our faith and resist the tests that Satan will surely put in our path.

We need the financial support base so that we can focus on spreading the gospel and not be constantly bogged down with fund-raising so that we can pay our bills.

Here are the goals we need to reach
Prayer -1000 prayer partners supporting our work in Kenya.
Financial -300 financial partners supporting our work in Kenya.

Please be in prayer with us, that God will help us to reach these goals in His time and give us the patience that we need to wait on Him.

January Ministry Opportunities

We are enjoying opportunities to get to know people in the community we are living in and we are building relationships with several unbelievers in the hopes that we can lead them Christ.

We have had only 1 opportunity to share what God is doing in Kenya.

We are enjoying the opportunity to be involved in 2 local churches and are receiving great encouragement from those believers.

2) Pray that as we speak about the work in Kenya that we will be faithful to tell the message that God wants us to tell.
3) Pray that as we speak more people will join our prayer team.
4) Pray that as we speak we will be able to develop a financial support base so that we can spend more of our time focusing on spreading the gospel and less time on fund-raising.

Settling into Life in North Carolina

Our relationship with the believers in Kenya going to be long distance for a while. We will continue to work on the Sunday School Material and web site for the church in Kenya.  For a while we will be an extension of the church there by witnessing and discipling people here.

What will our ministry entail when we are in the US?

1) We will be involved in two local churches while we are in NC. White Rock UMC and Mt Pleasant BC. We will be participating on various levels, helping with Sunday School, witnessing to people outside the church, discipling new believers, and other projects.

2) We will be traveling to churches all over the US to share the work God is doing in Kenya. If you want us to share the things God has used us to do with your church, please send us a note. Also, please make sure that we have your church on our "contact" list. Once we have a car, we will be contacting churches and scheduling opportunities to share God's miracles in Kenya.

3) During our time here in the US with you, we will be trying to renew the vision for God's plans in our lives. We will be holding spiritual hands with you as God uses you to renew our spirit.

Thank you for your prayers,
We hope we will see all of you soon

Wrapping up in Isiolo

Praise the Lord for the 2 1/2 months that we have had in Isiolo. It has been a fantastic time of ministry for us. Leah was blessed by God to be able to design a solar cooker that is simple to make and is low in price. Alan has been blessed to be able to sit down with pastors in the Isiolo area and conduct a spiritual survey. It has been an enlightening experience and will help us to hear God's calling of where our focus should be when we return. Alan has also had many opportunities to preach.

As we wrap up our time in Isiolo, we ask for these prayers.
1) That we will be able to hear clearly from God what our role in the work in Isiolo will be when we return from Furlough
2) That the pastors and christians living here will stand strong and be faithful to spread the gospel.
3) That someone will learn how to build the solar cookers and carry on the spreading of that technology.
4) That the ladies who are learning how to solar cook will not be discouraged, but stick with it until they learn how to do it well.
5) That God will show us where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do while we are in the US.

THANK YOU for all your prayers. We APPRECIATE you!

Pray for our Projects in Isiolo

We will be leading several projects while we are here in Isiolo. Solar Cooking, Cooking in a Basket, Water Retention, Tree Planting and Spiritual Teaching.

1) Solar Cooking - Pray for Leah as she works towards designing the most effective and least expensive solar cooker from the materials available in Isiolo. Isiolo has a lot of sun, but also has a fierce wind that blows constantly and is creating significant challenges in developing the design for the solar cooker.

2) Water Retention - This is an area that we have read about and gotten some sage advice from several friends, but it is the first time we have developed a Water Rentention Project or taught the principles. Pray that we will understand the best ways to help people understand how they can improve the Soil Water Content of the areas where they live.

3) Tree Planting - Pray that the people will understand the importance of planting trees to replace the ones that they are cutting down to make charcoal. They are selling the charcoal to support their families. They truly have no other means to do so at this time. Please pray that the other projects we are doing will decrease the amount of charcoal they need to make, by reducing their expenses and improving their crop productions.

4) Spiritual Teaching - Pray for God's guidance in showing us what areas of teaching these Christians need.
